Hello again!
We were so excited to send our newsletter to you that we forgot to include a few of the updates! Please see the updated content below.
Thank you for your understanding!
January 26, 2022
Greetings,
Happy New Year! 2022 is going to be an exciting and busy time for American Canyon. This year we celebrate the City's 30th Anniversary, and we are going to see lots of growth within our community. We anticipate welcoming a new urgent care medical facility and a restaurant in the Napa Junction III retail shopping center in the coming months. We will also look forward to the groundbreaking of a new hotel, Home2Suites, by Hilton, located near Palby's Junction. We anticipate constructing a new apartment neighborhood at affordable prices, next to Melvin Park. The new hotels and apartments will help strengthen our economy and business community by bringing new customers to our stores and restaurants.
Staff also continues to work on updating the City's General Plan. The General Plan establishes the goals, policies, and direction the City will take to achieve our community's vision over the next 20 years. A vital component of the General Plan update is the Housing Element. The housing element is developed to address local housing challenges and find solutions to the needs of our community. We will be conducting Housing Element workshops during Planning Commission meetings in the coming months. Community input is critical for designing the Housing Element. I encourage you to attend the Planning Commission meetings and participate in the Housing Element workshops. Click to watch a video in English and Spanish, which explains the Housing Element process. Click here to receive notifications about upcoming Planning Commission meetings.
While the City remains closed to in-person services, building permits and other services are available through our Virtual City Hall. You can submit plans and permit applications online. As always, our staff is available to answer questions and help guide you through the process. Please call (707) 647-4348 or email permittech@cityofamericancanyon.org if you need assistance.
Please stay safe, be kind to one another.
Brent Cooper, AICP Community Development Director

Fuel Station Changes
The City Council will consider a “Second Reading” of a new Gas Station Ordinance at the City Council meeting on February 1, 2022. With greater use of electric vehicles today and in the future, the Ordinance would “cap” gas stations to four and prohibit any expansion of fossil fuel pumps. The “Second Reading” is a “final consideration” before the Ordinance is approved. If it passes on February 1, the Ordinance will take effect on March 3, 2022.
