July 30, 2021
Hello,
The City Council declared a Stage 2 Drought Emergency at their July 20th meeting. ALL water customers are asked to reduce usage by 20%, stop all decorative water use (unless using recycled water), and follow Stage 2 water use rules. We highly encourage all customers to sign up for My Water Portal to track water usage and detect possible leaks with real-time data. All registered users in My Water Portal are automatically entered into weekly raffles with prizes ranging from local business gift certificates to water bill credits.
The Residential Recycled Water Program provides registered users with free containers and access to self-serve filling stations. Recycled water can and should be used for irrigation, decorative fountains, and gardening. We continue to find new ways to save water and assist our community in doing the same. This week our staff kicked off the delivery of recycled water to registered customers. Thank you to Tammy Wong for snapping this picture of the deliveries in action! This program was featured in a story earlier this week on Bay Area KRON 4 news. We are all in this together, and we will persevere through this drought.

In late 2019, a fire in Newell Open Space Preserve burned more than 100 trees planted by volunteers. Boy Scout Troop 7062 volunteered to plant new trees in their place and provide continuous care for them. Thanks to their efforts, the trees are flourishing in their new home and providing habitat to native wildlife species. Recently, the Scouts worked to remove overgrown brush around the trees. Thank you to these Scouts for this wonderful work, and to Barry Christian, for your efforts in keeping our open spaces healthy and beautiful.

Don't miss the upcoming opportunities to come together as a community for some fun! National Night Out is from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, August 3rd. There are block parties throughout town hosted by residents for their neighborhoods. Some of the locations are open to the entire community. Check our website to find out where. Although we don't list the private locations, if you see one in your neighborhood - join them! Get to know your neighbors and enjoy the spirit of camaraderie neighborhood relationships create. City Council, staff, fire and police personnel, and of course, Lobo will be stopping in at the parties to say hi and bring goodies.
The following evening, on Wednesday, August 4th, from 5-8 PM, come out to West American Canyon Road between James Road and Elliott Drive for the "Meet Me in the Street American Canyon" event hosted by the American Canyon Chamber of Commerce.
This event brought quite the crowd in early July. The Chamber is expecting additional food trucks and even more fun this time. Stop by the City, Fire, and Police booths to say hi, ask questions, pick up water-saving devices, and of course, see Lobo! These booths will be extending the National Night Out party vibe an extra night! This event is a great way to support our local business community. We look forward to seeing you there.
