July 2, 2021
Hello,
American Canyon residents are cordially invited to a Fourth of July Community Celebration this Sunday in honor of Independence Day. Although more subdued than prior years due to the pandemic, festivities will still be held at Community Park II. There are three main components of this year’s event. First, at 6:30 pm, there will be a “mini-parade” around the park. Next, around 7:30 pm, there will be a flag-raising and National Anthem, followed by music up on stage leading up to the last component of our celebration. Assuming weather conditions permit, around 9:30 pm, there will be a short fireworks show.
All residents are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and their own food and refreshments (no sales will be available) to enjoy the sense of community. It doesn’t make sense for you to invite outsiders to join us because it will take longer for them to drive here than the show will last. This is a celebration that is meant to celebrate the American Canyon community and its resilience in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. We encourage groups to stay within their family units and be respectful of everyone’s privacy and the surrounding neighborhood. Also, please no glass bottles!
Lastly, our local firefighters and ACPD want to remind you ALL FIREWORKS ARE ILLEGAL - even the so-called ‘Safe & Sane’ fireworks. Those using fireworks will be held responsible for the cost of fighting any fires that may occur as a result and could also be held criminally liable. ACPD will be on the lookout for illegal activity this weekend. Please help our community stay safe over this 4th of July holiday by celebrating responsibly.
Thank you and take care,
Jason Holley City Manager
