It was an honor and a pleasure to serve as Board Chairman for the past year, but I'm proud to pass the gavel to a true public servant. Congratulations to Madame Chair Kate Brophy McGee and Vice Chair Debbie Lesko! I'm eager to continue to work together on behalf of Maricopa County taxpayers!
Meeting with District Mayors!
It was great meeting with Mesa Mayor Mark Freeman and Scottsdale Mayor Lisa Borowsky this month. In both meetings I explained to each mayor that Maricopa County is willing to collaborate when it comes to improving quality of life for residents and other assisting cities with other pressing issues. Both mayors are proud of and love their cities! Stay tuned for what's to come!
First Quarter Housing Roundtable
I'm grateful to continue meaningful conversations around finding solutions to the affordable housing crisis in Maricopa County in my quarterly Housing Roundtable meetings. I've brought together leaders from every aspect of the housing market to see how the county can remove red tape for builders and buyers.
Introducing "Friends of Animal Care and Control"
Animal advocacy is an important issue for me. Since I became a County Supervisor, I have worked with county staff to come up with a plan to create an entity to support our animal control services. That's why I'm so proud of the recent launch of our new non-profit entity called “Friends of Animal Care & Control! The new nonprofit's goal is to fund programs and services that directly or indirectly serve the homeless pet population.
Winterfest in Scottsdale!
Michele and Taylor from my staff have been out and about in the community! They met many of you at this month's WinterFest at the Arizona Boardwalk in Scottsdale. Our booth offered bracelet making for kids and plenty of information for parents with questions about what Maricopa County does for you.

The mission of the Board is to provide a fair and impartial venue for property owners, county assessors and the Department of Revenue to challenge the valuation and classification of real and personal property that is subject to taxation. The Foster Alliance
Previously known as Arizona Helping Hands, this Scottsdale-based nonprofit provides basic needs for foster children in Arizona. The Foster Alliance provides beds and cribs to ensure every child has a safe place to sleep at night. They also provide everything from pull ups and diapers to shoes and clothes. Viral pizza has made a home in District 2 thanks to Trevor's Restaurant! With locations in Scottsdale and Arcadia, the upscale pizza joint offers gourmet pizza, fresh salads and an extensive drinks menu. Plus, the pizza is made with grain's from the Valley's own Hayden Flour Mills. This local hotspot was put on the map after multiple, viral video reviews--check it out!
