Message from Supervisor Gates

Dear Friends,

It's been another busy week at Maricopa County. With early voting under way, we continue to see a record number of ballots being returned. As of today, we have processed 933,395 ballots.

As early voting continues, take a look at the updated list of Vote Centers now currently open in District 3. You can click HERE to view a complete list and schedule for vote centers to open throughout the county. As always, please reach out to my office at 602-506-7562 for resources, questions, or concerns.

A quick reminder, today is the final day to request an early ballot. Visit our Election Department website for more info on requesting a ballot.

All my best,

Bill

Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) Update

Updated October 23, 2020

Maricopa County Public Health has an updated data dashboard to better display trends and demographic information related to the spread of COVID-19.  We are seeing some encouraging signs in the daily case count, but it's too early to tell if the curve is flattening.

Remember: "total number of cases" refers to all confirmed COVID-19 cases in Maricopa County since January, not to the current number of people who have the disease.

Take Control, Take Care

a

Maricopa County is putting federal CARES Act funds to good use by offering a number of assistance programs to help residents with their physical and financial health.  These programs remove the financial barriers to getting a COVID-19 test or flu vaccination, provide financial assistance to people struggling to pay their rent or utility costs, and support businesses and nonprofits with grants to cover financial losses incurred during the pandemic.

Visit Maricopa.gov/TakeCare to learn more.

Case Trends

a

Public Health keeps a rolling seven-day average of COVID-19 cases reported each day.  This number has been rising for about a month.  As of October 16, our average daily case count was 464.  On September 16, the average was 345.  This is much lower than we saw in late June and early July, but it’s a reminder of why protective measures are still needed.

You can help!

  • Stay home when you’re sick
  • Keep 6 feet of distance between yourself and others
  • Wear a mask in public
  • Avoid large groups
  • Get a flu shot

Free Flu Shot Events

Public Health recommends everyone over the age of six months old get a flu shot this year.  Get the vaccine now and you’ll be protected for the entire flu season.  Visit maricopa.gov/flu for more information on the vaccine and a list of free flu shot events for adults and kids.
