About Us

Maricopa County Environmental Services provides essential, regional environmental services seeking to prevent and remove environmental health risks. The Department’s Environmental Health Specialists and Field Technicians are in the community every day making sure that among other things, food in all the eating and drinking establishments in the County is protected from contamination, that water supplies throughout the County are safe to drink, and that vector borne health illnesses and risks are minimized. It is our belief that with continued support, future generations will reap the benefits of today’s actions.

Special Events on the Rise

Special Event (A)

By Abner A. Linares, Environmental Health Specialist with Mobile Food/Special Events Program

The weather is great and the special event season is in full swing in Maricopa County.  The Mobile Food/Special Events team works with coordinators and vendors to ensure events run smoothly for all involved.

As an event coordinator, you help us achieve the most significant step towards a smooth operation by providing us with the following items at least 30 days prior to the event:

1.      Coordinator Information Sheet

2.      Complete list of all food/beverage vendors, with contact information and permit # (if operating under a current Mobile Food Establishment permit or Food Catering permit).

3.      Map of event site with the location of the booths, if applicable.

As a vendor, please be advised of the following:

1.      If you do not have a Mobile Food Type I, II, III, Annual Event Food Establishment Permit, or Food Catering Permit, or are operating above the guidelines of the permit you have been issued, you are required to apply for a Temporary/Seasonal Food Establishment Permit

2.      Submit your application and pay your application fees at least 7 days prior to the event in order to avoid the addition of a $50 late fee.

3.      Review the Permit Requirements at Special Events Guidance and Checklist to ensure you are well informed of the operational requirements.

4.      Post your permit card at the booth during your event.

Special Event (B)

Things to Know:

1.      Permit Exemptions

2.      Promotional Sampling Guidance:

3.      If the proceeds raised from the event are donated to a charitable nonprofit organization, you may qualify for a fee waiver.  Please contact the Maricopa County Environmental Services Department at (602) 506-6616 for further information prior to completing the Temporary/Seasonal Permit Application.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us! We are glad to help ensure your event runs smoothly.
