Agronomy Contest

Hello Agronomy Coaches and Teams!

A couple of ag teachers from California are excited to announce the first annual States Collide Agronomy contest! This will be the first contest other than Nationals, where participants in multiple states will compete together in Agronomy. The Spring/Winter contest will be held February 15-19, 2021. Some states have chosen a later date to suit their needs. Just let us know. We have done our best to develop a google form contest tailored to your states Agronomy contest. There will be some entities of your contest that may be altered due to the fact that they do not translate well to the google form platform. This contest will be a great opportunity for your students to apply what they have learned so far, practice for state finals, and THEY GET TO COMPETE WITH STUDENTS FROM ACROSS THE NATION!!

Registration:  Registration Form Link [forms.gle] .  Spring participants, please register by February 5, 2021. Registration is $ 50 per CHAPTER.  Invoices will be emailed to coaches once they register. When registering, be sure to use a google email account. This will be the email address that all the contest forms will be sent to. Coaches will receive the forms and then share them with their students.

Contest Logistics:

  • Each state will have its own contest and its own contest winners. Then all scores will be converted to a percentage multiplied by 1000 to determine the overall winners of the States Collide Agronomy contest.
  • Coaches: You will be emailed the contest forms the Friday before the contest. You can then share them with your students however you would like. Be aware that some student Gmail accounts have restrictions. You may want to share the forms to your student’s private Gmail accounts.
  • We will also send you a link that will automatically make a copy of the form for you.  Please feel free to use these forms to practice in the future. YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPEND HOURS TAKING PICS AND CREATING STUDY MATERIALS.
  • There is no particular order of how the contest forms are to be completed. It is up to the coach on how they will have their teams complete the forms. Some coaches choose to do the entire contest in one day. Other coaches break it up throughout the week.
  • A contest tracker will be provided to coaches to keep track of what sub contest your student has completed.
  • Nothing will be timed. Participants must have ALL contest forms completed by the Friday of the contest. Note: If a student does start a form they need to complete it that day.
  • Awards will be mailed to the coaches after the awards ceremony.
  • A website will be created to showcase the scores and winners of the contest. This website will also be used as a platform to access information such as the link for the award ceremony.

Contest Line Up:

  • Contest subcategories will vary from state to state and will follow the state’s contest as closely as possible.
  • Please note that there will be no team component in this competition.

Zoom Awards Ceremony: The States Collide Agronomy awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2021 at 2 pm. (MST)  Zoom invites will be sent to coaches to then share with their teams. Students are encouraged to have family members and friends “tune in” to the awards ceremony!!

Should coaches or students have any questions or concerns before, during, or after the contest, please do not hesitate to contact Tim Brown at tbrown@tbjusd.org or (530) 260-0877.
