Things to do on Election Day
Before you head to the polls:
Registering on Election Day
Not yet registered? Don’t worry – in Minnesota, you can register at your polling place. To do so, you will need to provide proof of residence. This can be done in several different ways:

An ID with your current name and address, or
-
A photo ID (does not need to list your current residence) AND a document like a utility bill due or dated within 30 days of the election with your current residence, or

Have a registered voter from the same precinct vouch on your behalf

Absentee ballots must arrive by Election Day to be counted. Absentee ballots can be dropped off until 8 p.m. on Election Day to:
Results
After the close of polls at 8 p.m., the election results are combined and posted to the State Election Reporting System. State law prohibits the release of polling place results until all absentee ballots for that precinct have been counted and combined with polling place totals.
Results reported on election night are unofficial and may be adjusted in the days following Election Day, prior to the canvassing board meeting.
