The Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) season for young children ends on Monday, March 31, 2025, and will no longer be available for ordering.
All doses of Beyfortus (nirsevimab) products in Maine expire in 2025 - 2026. To prevent waste, any remaining inventory must be stored properly at the recommended temperature and monitored for use in the next RSV season, October 2025 – March 2026.
Action Steps for Providers:
-
Ensure all administered doses are recorded in ImmPact.
-
Reconcile inventory to match what is documented in ImmPact.
-
Store any remaining doses correctly and label them clearly to avoid mix-ups with other vaccines.
Thank you for your continued efforts to safely and effectively administer nirsevimab to Maine’s most vulnerable populations.

As per last month’s update, new temperature monitors (TagAlert) are now being used in refrigerated shipments from McKesson. Upon opening the box, providers should immediately press the blue Stop and Start Button until the Stop Icon appears and then read the indicator status to determine if the appropriate temperature was maintained during transit. Each shipment includes a flyer (attached) with directions and pictures to assist staff responsible for receiving the vaccines. Please ensure your providers are aware of the need to turn off the TagAlert as soon as the shipment is opened.
In addition, please keep in mind the following:
- The EcoFlex coolers must be returned so that they can be reused. These coolers have an attached UPS shipping label on the inner box flap.
- The KoolTemp coolers do not need to be returned to McKesson and can be discarded.
- Refrigerated and frozen tag alerts do not need to be returned to McKesson and can be discarded.
If you have questions about the new temperature monitors or cooler returns, please contact McKesson Customer Care at . |
