Happy Derby, everyone! Are you more of a fireworks, hot air balloon, steamboat, or horse race person? No matter what events you favor, can we all agree that this year's Pegasus Pin is the best one ever?

The big events in our area next week are the community meetings to discuss the new tennis center proposal in Joe Creason Park:

  • Tuesday, May 6, 6 p.m., Cyril Allgeier Community Center
  • Saturday, May 10, 8:30 a.m., St. X High School

I encourage you to attend one or both to hear from the developers and to be heard by your councilmember and officials from the Parks Department, Office of Planning, and Mayor's Office. The process has gone a long way - too far - without community input, but it is still early in the process and Metro Council will get to weigh in.

I have been listening and reading the hundreds of emails coming in and I know you have valid questions about increased traffic, loss of greenspace, the environmental impact on the Louisville Nature Center, the project's relationship to Bellarmine, and more.

Neighbors have been organizing on Facebook at Save Joe Creason (link: https://www.facebook.com/share/16Y9AwF36D/?mibextid=qi2Omg) and Save Joe Creason Park Louisville Ky from Tennis Pickleball Center (link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2416945522003410/) and the new nonprofit Kentucky Tennis and Pickleball Center has put out answers to frequently asked questions (link: https://kytpc.org/faqs/), if you'd like to brush up before the meetings.

I hope to see you there. Reach out if you need accommodations.
