Enjoy the Labor Day weekend!
"All labor that uplifts
humanity has dignity
and importance."
Martin Luther King Jr.
Observed the first Monday in September, Labor Day is an annual celebration of the social and economic achievements of American workers. The holiday is rooted in the late nineteenth century, when labor activists pushed for a federal holiday to recognize the many contributions workers have made to America’s strength, prosperity, and well-being.

We hope you have a safe and happy Labor Day weekend, whether you're at the lake, the cookout, poolside, or taking it easy at home!
No Labor Day waste collection, drop-off location closings
There will be no residential garbage, recycling, or yard waste collection within the Urban Services District on Labor Day, Monday, September 4. Collection through the week will be delayed by one day because of the holiday. To receive automatic reminders of changes due to holidays, download our free Recycle Coach app.
Residents who rely on private waste haulers should consult those haulers about holiday collection schedules.
The three staffed recycling drop-off locations, the Waste Reduction Center, and the Haz Bin household hazardous waste disposal site will be closed Saturday, September 2 in recognition of the holiday and closed on Monday as usual. A map and complete list of the drop-off sites and regular operating hours can be found at Louisvilleky.gov/RecycleMap
