+ Mayor declares this week "Affordable Housing Week"
 Mayor Greg Fischer this week joined fair and affordable housing advocates in the mixed-income Park Springs subdivision to declare this week “Affordable Housing Week” in the city of Louisville – celebrating progress made, and calling on state and local leaders to continue work to expand affordable housing options.
During the event, the story of foreign-born resident Sohaib Ahmed was highlighted. Ahmed came to the United States in 2008 from Syria after leaving Iraq where he worked as a translator for the U.S. military. He had difficulty finding a home.
 "I was so busy raising my family, working hard, until about three years ago, I found Habitat," he said.
But after a local servicemember sponsored Ahmed and his family, he was able to secure a Habitat for Humanity home in Park Springs

+ Healthy at Home Eviction Relief Program is available
 The Kentucky Housing Corporation is expanding the HHERF (Healthy at Home Eviction Relief) program to meet the needs of Louisville residents facing deep rental debt and fear of eviction. Individuals may be eligible to receive at a maximum 100% of back rent owed for up to 12 months, plus 3 months future rent.
Paid assistance may vary based on the application and subsidies.

 LIHEAP Spring Subsidy Cooling is available now to assist eligible households with electric cost. Louisville Metro Office of Resilience and Community Services is accepting applications through June 17 or until funds are depleted.

**This LIHEAP component, designed to offset the cost of higher electric costs, will end June 17, 2022, or once funding is depleted. If appointments are currently full, please check back each Thursday for information about the next block of appointments to be added.

Louisville Rites of Passage engages Black youth ages 13 to 19 as they transition into adulthood by nurturing their positive self worth and identity through a deep connection to their African Heritage, Community, Nature and Themselves.
This free program runs from March 2022 to November 2022. It will support you as you learn about yourself, your heritage, your community and the natural world and develop skills to help you become an independent adult.
