After a unanimous decision from the Silverthorne Town Council, Silverthorne Police Advisory Community and the public at a community open house in Jan. 2025, a site for the new Silverthorne Police Facility has been selected. The new facility will be located at the Cottonwood South site, north of Silverthorne Elementary School and south of the new Summit Fire & EMS Silverthorne fire station.
This site was selected because it has:
- Potentially three access points
- Room to expand and/or collaborate with the Summit County Sherriff
- Protection of the elementary school
- Most similar land use of adjacent lots
The police facility project will be in the design phase through 2025 with construction expected to begin in 2026 and a grand opening in 2027.

Community members can also honor Black History Month by attending a variety of events happening this month across Colorado. These educational celebrations honor Black History Month through dance, art, music, lectures and more. Find a virtual or in-person event here.

Molly Pitney joined the Town of Silverthorne police department in April 2024 and was appointed the town’s first School Resource Officer in November 2024. Now, her days are divided between routine patrol work and Silverthorne Elementary, where she begins her mornings ensuring moose aren’t coming onto the playground. “This frequently happens,” she laughs. “It’s a Summit County thing.”

If you live in Summit County, you’ve probably seen the work of Erica Nicol. From murals in Silverthorne to sculptures and mosaics in local businesses such as The Pad and Breck’s Empire Burger, it’s everywhere. Her newest piece in Silverthorne illuminates a popular fly-fishing spot hidden under an otherwise unappealing underpass, right at the town’s entrance.

Silverthorne is the perfect base camp for outdoor recreation with its access to trails, nearby peaks and the Blue River. But what about when you want to stay indoors and still do something fun? At Hidden Table Games, there are plenty of ways to explore inside, including board games, trading card games (TCGs), and tabletop wargaming.

The Town of Silverthorne recently created a road map to keep Silverthorne a healthy place to live, work and recreate for generations to come. Transportation is a necessity, but private vehicles exact economic and environmental tolls. Creating effective mobility solutions is the fourth pillar of the Town of Silverthorne’s Sustainability Strategic Plan adopted in 2024.
