In Our Community
Counties Urge Residents to Sign up for Emergency Alerts
Ahead of major events like the Super Bowl, the County of San Mateo urges residents to stay alert, recognize signs of human trafficking, and use available resources, such as opting in to local alert systems, to keep informed about weather, transit disruptions, and event-related impacts. The County is partnering with San Francisco and Santa Clara counties to support public safety during the busy weekend. San Mateo County residents are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts by texting SUPERBOWL to 672-83 or visiting www.smcalert.info.
San Mateo County Event Center Master Plan Community Survey
The San Mateo County Event Center is conducting a Master Plan study to evaluate options for the modernization and expansion of its facilities. The goal of this effort is to maintain and grow the Event Center as the leading event center within the San Francisco Bay Area. The community is invited to complete a short survey to share your experience with the Event Center and share your thoughts on how it can best serve the community in the future. Your feedback will help shape long-term planning, future programming, and community priorities. The survey is available in English, Spanish, and Mandarin.
Peninsula Humane Society & SPCA Spay or Neuter Services
Spaying and neutering are important for preventing accidental litters. By having your pet spayed or neutered, you will do your part to prevent the birth of unwanted animals. You will likely be setting your pet up for a healthier life by reducing the desire to wander outside. The benefits of spaying/neutering include reducing cats’ tendency to spray if done early enough, reducing dogs’ and cats’ tendency to fight and roam, and reducing undesirable behaviors in the home. For information about scheduling a low-cost spay/neuter surgery for dogs, cats, and rabbits, visit phs-spca.org/spayneuter.
