After successful first year hunting license raffle tickets on sale again
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is alerting hunters that it is open season to buy raffle tickets for Wyoming big game and bison licenses. Winners can purchase a license in almost any hunt area, even if they drew a license through the standard drawing.
Through July 1, both residents and nonresidents can enter the Super Tag and Super Tag Trifecta raffle.
Each Super Tag ticket costs $10 for a chance at the big game/bison license of their choice. One license is issued for each species. For $30, the Super Tag winner can purchase any three of the licenses of their choice.
“The inaugural year for the Super Tag program went well; the winners in 2014 had some extremely memorable experiences. Their stories highlight that Wyoming is home to world-class wildlife,” Game and Fish Director Scott Talbott said. “Thanks to the Wyoming Legislature for creating an excellent program to benefit hunters, which also brought in $670,000 for wildlife management, benefiting the entire state.”
Super Tag tickets are available online here: http://wgfd.wyo.gov/web2011/news-1001797.aspx. People can also buy tickets online at any Game and Fish office.
“I’m absolutely buying raffle tickets again for the 2015 season,” said Pat Richards of Erie, Colorado, the winner of the 2014 pronghorn license raffle. “I’m encouraging my brother in Florida to buy one, too.”
All hunt areas in the state are open to raffle winners, except for moose areas with 10 or fewer licenses or bighorn sheep areas with eight or fewer licenses.
Raffle winners retain their preference points and moose, bighorn sheep and bison application waiting periods are waived.
Trophy game licenses – black bear and mountain lion – can be purchased over-the-counter. But there are also Super Tag drawings for these species for hunters who would like a chance to bag two black bears or mountain lions in a season. No Super Tag tickets for gray wolf licenses are being sold in 2015.
All raffle winners still must purchase the appropriate license and follow all dates and regulations.
In 2014, 50,266 raffle tickets were sold.
