Public meetings on post hunting seasons, herd objectives

LARAMIE –The Wyoming Game and Fish Department invites hunters to attend a series of public meetings to share their thoughts on recent hunting seasons and to discuss herd objective reviews for the Laramie Region.

“We invite anyone interested in hunting and wildlife management to attend one of the five information gathering meetings to be held in the Laramie Region in preparation for the 2015 season-setting process,” said Corey Class, Wildlife Coordinator for the Laramie Region. Hunters are encouraged to attend a meeting in their community to discuss the recent hunting season for deer, elk and pronghorn. “We want to hear from you. How did your season go? If you have any issues or suggestions you would like to discuss with us, please attend a meeting and share your thoughts.”

The meetings will also provide an opportunity for hunters to discuss population objectives for big game herds in the Laramie Region, including the Shirley Mountain mule deer and elk herds, Sheep Mountain mule deer herd, and white-tailed deer herds in the southeast corner of the state. “We are not proposing anything at this time, we are just asking people their thoughts on herd objectives,” Class said.

Meetings will be held at the following locations:

  • Hanna: 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 14, at the Hanna Senior Citizens Center, 1007 Trona Court (across from the Hanna Recreation Center)
  • Cheyenne: 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 15, at the Game and Fish Department Headquarters, 5400 Bishop Blvd.
