Important Changes to your BCBSWY Membership

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming has an easier and faster system to get you the information you need, when you want it.

Here are some tips to get you started.

  • Your child should have received a new Kid Care CHIP member ID card this past December. Please be sure to show your new card to your doctors or pharmacy the next time your child gets care.
  • With your new Kid Care CHIP ID number, go to YourWyoBlue.com to register your child for an account and see how easy it is to find the information you want online. You’ll still need to register, even if you are already registered for the previous BCBSWY member site.
  • Your child’s EOB (Explanation of Benefits) will have a new look, be easier to read, and is available in real-time from the member site. You’ll also be able to find a participating Kid Care CHIP doctor, urgent care or hospital. Order or print replacement ID cards, search a library of health topics, view your benefit booklet and more.
  • The next time you call the Kid Care CHIP BCBSWY phone line you will reach a new phone system with self-service options such as getting a recent claim summary, so please listen carefully to the new options available.
  • Vision coverage is now provided through Davis Vision. To find a participating eye doctor click here or login to your member account. Davis Vision also offers a discounted line of frames and lens.

Preventing Cavities

Child with smile

Developing healthy dental habits now will help your child keep a healthy mouth for life.  Follow these five simple steps to prevent cavities.

  1. Get regular dental check-ups, starting at age 1. Preventive dental visits are covered by Kid Care CHIP with no co-pay.
  2. Ask your dentist about dental sealants that prevent tooth decay.
  3. Brush twice a day for 2 minutes using fluoride toothpaste (try using a timer or listening to a song that is 2 minutes long).
  4. Floss once a day.
  5. Limit foods and drinks with sugar.

Office Visits are Key to Your Child’s Overall Health

Child and provider

Screening, diagnostic and treatment office visits are key to your child’s overall health. Each year, children of all ages should be visiting with their doctor or dentist to complete a health and/or dental risk assessment.

During this visit, your child should expect to have a comprehensive exam including both physical and mental health. Your doctor may also complete routine immunizations, vision, and hearing tests. If you are visiting your dentist you should expect an oral health exam as well as cleanings and other oral health treatments. This is also a great time for you, as a parent, to ask questions relating to your child’s development, behavior and nutrition just to name a few. Many of these screenings are covered under your plan with no out of pocket cost to you.

For more information regarding your child’s benefits, you can refer to your Kid Care CHIP Handbook or call the 1-800 number listed on the back of your Kid Care CHIP/Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming insurance card. If you have questions on your dental benefits you can call the 1-800 number listed on your Delta Dental insurance card.
