Governor Gordon Appoints TJ Forwood to be a Circuit Court Judge for the First Judicial District

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon has appointed TJ Forwood to be a Circuit Court Judge for the First Judicial District serving Laramie County. Forwood’s appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee.

Forwood has served as an assistant United States Attorney in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Wyoming since 2014. He previously served for seven years as an Assistant District Attorney in the Laramie County District Attorney’s Office. Forwood also worked in the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office, where he represented the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation. A Cheyenne native, Forwood earned his Bachelor's degree from the University of Northern Colorado and his Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Wyoming.

“TJ’s extensive courtroom experience at all levels of Wyoming’s court system, as well as the considerable time he has spent prosecuting cases in Laramie County Circuit Court, make him well equipped to serve as a judge,” Governor Gordon said.

“I’m incredibly honored and humbled by Governor Gordon’s appointment,” Forwood said. “The first court I worked in as a young attorney was Laramie County Circuit Court. I’m excited to return now as a judge, and I look forward to serving the people of Wyoming.”

The appointment is effective December 21, 2024.
