Governor’s Town Hall Meeting in Gillette Will Address Federal Overreach, Energy and Public Lands Issues
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon is inviting the public to join him for a Town Hall in Gillette for an open discussion about Wyoming’s response to a barrage of proposed rules and actions by the federal government that are impacting the state’s energy industries and public lands.
The Town Hall will take place from 1 to 3 pm on June 25 at Gillette College’s Technical Education Center. Joining the Governor to share their perspective will be members of the Campbell County Commission and representatives from the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality, Wyoming Game and Fish Department, the Sage Grouse Implementation Team and industry.
“Wyoming is fighting back against an unprecedented onslaught of attacks on our core industries. Since Northeast Wyoming is the most recent target, I wanted to make sure the people of Campbell County know all of our efforts to stop this lunacy,” Governor Gordon said. “I look forward to the conversation.”
Topics for discussion at the Town Hall include:
- New rules released by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) targeting coal and natural-gas fired power plants
- EPA methane rules targeting oil and natural gas producers
- The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Buffalo Coal Resource Management Plan “No Leasing” alternative
- The BLM sage grouse amendments
- The BLM Public Lands rule
The event will include time for questions and answers from the public.
