Governor Appoints Jefferson Coombs to be a to be a Circuit Court Judge for the Ninth Judicial District
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon has appointed Jefferson Coombs to be a Circuit Court Judge for the Ninth Judicial District serving Fremont County, Wyoming. Coombs’ appointment fills the vacancy left by the retirement of Honorable Robert B. Denhardt .
Coombs currently serves as Field Office Supervisor of the Campbell County Office of the Public Defender, a position he has held since 2015. He previously served as an Assistant Public Defender in Campbell County and as a Law Clerk for Judge Dan Price of the Sixth Judicial District Court. Prior to attending law school, Coombs taught high school social studies for seven years. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University and his J.D. from Hamline University School of Law in St. Paul, MN.
“Mr. Coombs’ dedication to public service and his commitment to the ideals of justice and fairness have been made apparent through his exemplary work as a public defender,” Governor Gordon said. “This background will serve him well as a judge.”
“I am humbled and excited by the Governor’s appointment, and I am grateful for the opportunity to serve the people of Fremont County,” Coombs said. “My family and I look forward to becoming part of the community in Lander.”
Coombs’ appointment is effective October 4, 2021.
