Response to Comments for Methods for Determining Attainment of Surface Water Quality Standards: Basis and Overall Approach

The WDEQ has completed responses to public comments regarding its revision of methods for conducting surface water quality assessments in the document Methods for Determining Attainment of Surface Water Quality Standards: Basis and Overall Approach. The public comment period for these comments was March 23, 2026 - April 23, 2026.

The revised methods document along with the responses to comments are both available on the WDEQ Water Quality Assessment website under the tab “Guidance”.  These methods establish the basic data requirements and framework for assessment of Wyoming surface water quality.  Please note that another method, Assessment Method for Aquatic Life Use in Wadable Streams, is referenced in this document, which will be publicly available in the coming months.
