The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) has received a request from the Biota Research and Consulting Inc. for State certification of U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Nationwide Permit #27, for the discharge of dredged or fill material to Lake Creek near Wilson, Wyoming. The purpose of the project is to stabilize eroding stream banks and improve aquatic habitat in Lake Creek. All waters within the Fish Creek drainage are designated Outstanding Resource Waters where point source discharges are prohibited except for storm water and construction-related discharges. This certification will require meeting the provisions in Chapter 1, Section 13 (a)(iii)(A) and (D), of the WDEQ Water Quality Rules and Regulations, which allows these discharges under certain circumstances. Proposed activities include installing toe wood bank jams along approximately 487 feet of Lake Creek. To do this, approximately 91 cubic yards (CY) of alluvial material will be excavated from the banks, and 91 CY of large wood and ballast rock will be placed as fill to construct features. No permanent impacts to wetlands are anticipated.
