UEC Uranium Corp. (UEC). of 907 N. Poplar Street, Suite 260, Casper Wyoming has applied for an in situ mining permit amendment from the Land Quality Division of the Department of Environmental Quality of the State of Wyoming. The mining permit amendment area for the mining of uranium will be located in: a portion of or all of Sections 25, and 36 of Township 45N, Range 77W and can be found on the Fort Reno SE USGS 7.5’ Topographic Quadrangle Map, Johnson County, Wyoming. The area is located approximately 50 miles southeast of Buffalo, 32 miles east of Kaycee and 30 miles northeast of Midwest, Wyoming. The proposed operation is scheduled to being in September 2026 and is estimated to continue until 2033.

Information regarding this application may be reviewed in the office of the Land Quality Division of the Department of Environmental Quality in Cheyenne and Sheridan, or the Johnson and Cambell County Clerk Offices Buffalo and Gillette, Wyoming. Written objections to the proposed mining operation must be received by the Administrator of the Land Quality Division, Department of Environmental Quality, 200 W. 17th Street, Suite 10, Cheyenne WY 82002 before the close of business September 12, 2026. Objections may also be submitted by the same deadline via the Land Quality Division’s electronic comment portal at https://lq.wyomingdeq.commentinput.com/. The Director shall issue a final written decision on the application within thirty days after the deadline to file objections. The applicant or objector may appeal the Director’s written decision to the Environmental Quality Council (EQC). If a hearing is held, the EQC shall issue findings of fact and a decision within sixty days after the final hearing. The hearing shall be conducted as a contested case in accordance with the Wyoming Administrative Procedure Act (W.S. §16-3-101 through 16-3-115) and the right of judicial review shall be afforded as provided in that Act. All parties as identified in W.S. §35-11-406(j) will be mailed a copy of this notice. The Wyoming Oil and Gas Commission will be mailed a copy of the application mine plan map as required in W.S. §35-11-406(j).

Pursuant to Water Quality Divisions Rules and Regulations Chapter 8, the Water Quality Division of the Department of Environmental Quality will administer a separate public notice and comment period for the proposed classification of the groundwater in the production zones as Class V (Mineral Commercial) and the aquifer exemption requested from the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
