NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING
DEQ LAND QUALITY DIVISION
The Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ), Land Quality Division (LQD), will hold an Advisory Board (AB) Meeting beginning at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, June 25, 2026. The meeting will be held via video conference call. The major item of discussion will be the presentation and discussion of proposed repeal of Coal Appendix B – Wildlife Monitoring Requirements for Surface Coal Mining Operations and corresponding revisions to Coal Chapters 2 and 4 to remove citations to Appendix B. The proposed revisions were drafted to more closely align with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement rules for wildlife enhancement and protection. The LQD will be seeking the AB’s recommendation to proceed to formal rulemaking to repeal Coal Appendix B and make minor revision to Coal Chapters 2 and 4 at this meeting.
