Data Collection News

WDE595 Temporary School Closure Report

Temporary school closures are now reported via the WDE595 in the Data Collection Suite (DCS). The WDE595 can be accessed from the Forms Inventory page. Once on this page, scroll down to the WDE595, click the arrow on the left and navigate to the Documents tab. Click on the WDE595 link, which will bring you into the DCS. Click the Forms link and access the data entry form that is preloaded with the schools within the district. To submit users must have the WDE595 Certify Role.

If you have questions about the form content contact Elaine Marces at elaine.marces@wyo.gov. If you need help with the submission process in DCS contact Elizabeth (Liz) Foster at elizabeth.foster@wyo.gov.

Spring WDE684 Teacher/Course/Student Data Collection Moving to WINDS

The WDE684 Spring data collection will be open from March 1-15, 2023, and will be collected using the Wyoming Interoperable Data System (WINDS). Districts will still have the ability to run trials in the State Report Manager (SRM) for making comparisons but all submissions must be certified through WINDS. Because the snapshot date is March 1, it is recommended that as many of the validation violations that are pending for the district in the WINDS data collection system be resolved by end of the day on March 1 as is feasible.

The Information Management Division would like to thank the WISE Coordinators for meeting regularly with WDE staff over the last two years to provide much-needed feedback!

WY-VIEW Assessment, Growth, and Early Warning Dashboard

WY-VIEW
WY-VIEW Image

The Wy-EdFi assessment, growth, and early warning dashboard is being replaced by a SIF-sourced application named WY-VIEW. The WDE has always used SIF data transfer standards to receive student data from district Student Information Systems (SIS) while the Ed-Fi data standard was used to populate the WyEd-Fi assessment dashboard and early warning system.  SIS providers asked the Information Management Division to pick one data standard. As a result, the Wy-EdFi dashboard is being replaced by a WY-VIEW.

Currently, the SIF-sourced data is limited in scope and therefore several of the WY-VIEW dashboard features have no data to power their visualizations, such as daily attendance rate. Our vendor ESP Solutions Group and the WDE will continue to expand the SIF-sourced data over the year to come.

WY-VIEW has a new look and feel, is free to all school districts, and is available now. Districts who did not participate in the Wy-EdFi project and are interested in a demonstration or learning more can call or email Kimiko Rife at krife@espsg.com or 512-879-5357.
