Each month, this newsletter will highlight all the relevant upcoming Professional Development offerings for Wyoming educators. While the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will highlight these offerings for the upcoming month, educators can find all relevant PD opportunities on the PD calendar page or the Professional Development page on the WDE website.

Upcoming PD Opportunities for June:

From 8:30-4:30 p.m. on June 6; 2021-22 Career Development Facilitator

This course will support the implementation of more robust career development programs in all Wyoming schools and to ensure consistency in the delivery of content and best practices in career development.

Summer session: June 6-August 15, 2022.

From 10- 11 a.m. on June 7, 14, 21, and 28; Tech Ed Tuesdays - Data Summer

The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) will host Technical Education (TechEd)Tuesdays for all Career and Technical Education (CTE) teachers, curriculum coordinators, and Perkins coordinators via the Zoom online platform. These virtual sessions will offer information regarding data closely related to the Perkins V State plan and state accountability. Attendees will be able to participate in a question and answer session each week. The CTE team offers the following one hour session at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesdays. Dates and topics include:

  • June 7: Who's Counting and Why?
  • June 14: The Foreign Language of Data
  • June 21: As a CTE Teacher How Does Data Matter to Me?
  • June 28: Data Rolls Uphill

One focused professional development point will be awarded for each TechEd Tuesday session attended.

From 9:30 a.m. June 13-noon June 14 in Lander; 21st CCLC Meeting

The Annual Meeting for 21stCCLC is a required technical assistance for 21stCCLC subgrantees. Topics include grant management, best practices, program quality, and evaluation.

From 10-11 a.m. on June 14, virtually; Hathaway Scholarship Online Orientation

The Wyoming Department of Education’s Hathaway Team will hold online orientations starting at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of every month. The orientation is for those new to the program, or for those who want a content refresher. Legislative updates will be included. Sessions will last about 45 minutes.

At the end of each online session, attendees who are still in the meeting will be entered into a drawing for a “Hathaway Swag Bag.” All district personnel are invited to participate.

From 8 a.m. June 21- 5 p.m. June 22, Hilton Garden Inn, Casper; Pathway to Success: A New Look into Post-Secondary Transitions for WY Students Who are Blind or Low Vision

To meet the needs of all students in Wyoming who have low vision or are blind, two tracks have been created. One targets the needs of students who are just blind/low vision and the other will be exploring the needs of our students who have complex needs in addition to low vision or blindness.

See the second page of this flier for more information. This event takes place at the Hilton Garden Inn in Casper on June 21-22, 2022. Register here by May 31, 2022.

From 8 a.m. on July 19 - 3 p.m. July 21, virtually; 21st CCLC National Virtual Summer Symposium

The Summer Symposium features successful strategies that grantees can use to implement and manage all components of a 21st CCLC program and any high-quality afterschool or summer learning program. Attendees will hear from nationally recognized speakers during plenary sessions and work closely with education experts and peers during interactive workshops. State and local leaders and grantees will gain valuable perspectives on afterschool issues and receive important updates about the 21st CCLC program.

From 8 a.m. on July 20 - 12:30 p.m. July 22, CWC in Riverton; Wyoming Computer Science Education Conference

Join the WDE in-person for the Inaugural Wyoming Computer Science Education Conference on July 20–22, 2022 at Central Wyoming College in Riverton.

The Computer Science Education Conference is an opportunity for administrators and educators from kindergarten through higher education, to share and explore computer science teaching and learning practices for classrooms and after school programs.

This conference is hosted by the Computer Science Teachers Association (CSTA-Wyoming) and the WDE.
