WY-ALT IMPORTANT REMINDERS

WY-ALT

Reminder: The WY-ALT is designed for one-on-one test administration to provide the necessary supports to students with significant cognitive disabilities.

Early Stopping Rule: After multiple attempts at testing, there are an anticipated few students who will not have the communicational skills to take this assessment. In order to accommodate those students please follow the bullets below to document the early stop:

  • Contact the Help Desk at 888-897-8024.
  • Report the student(s) WISER ID.
  • Report which subject(s) need the early stopping rule applied.
  • Report date and time for each administration attempt, for each subject.

Learner Characteristic Inventory: The Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) recommends that teachers complete the Learner Characteristic Inventory by logging into the student interface, as the student, before beginning any test sessions. The LCI Questionnaire is comprised of 19 questions that address student demographic and performance information based on the previous school year. A copy of the questions is available on the Wyoming Assessment Portal under Resources for WY-ALT Test Administrators.

ORDERING WY-ALT PAPER TEST MATERIALS

If a Building Coordinator/Test Administrator needs to request paper test materials for accommodated testing on behalf of a student, justification for the request must be made in TIDE before the order is submitted. What must be included is the student’s need for paper test materials per an IEP or 504 plan. This information must be provided in the Comments section of the paper order request in TIDE. Please, just verify that the student need is documented on an IEP or 504 plan. Submissions without this information will not be approved. Student involvement in PALS, LIFE, or other alternative educational programs is not justification for a paper order and will not be accepted as such. Please do not cut-and-paste, upload, or email IEPs or 504 plans to the Wyoming Department of Education.
