ACCESS ADDITIONAL MATERIALS ORDERING REMINDER

Order Window Closes February 18

As the ACCESS testing season continues, District Test Coordinators should use the District-level Additional Orders Only site to place their AMOs. Initial shipments of test materials include extra copies, which must be used before any orders for additional materials are placed. Test Administrators needing additional materials must consult and get approval from the District Test Coordinator to determine whether the district has the materials on hand or needs to order additional materials.

Additional guidance on placing AMOs can be found on our Tips for Placing Your Additional Materials Order flyer in the WIDA Secure Portal Download Library.

Using Action-based Data for English Learners to Support School Improvement and Professional Development Planning

The WIDA School Improvement System (WIDA SIS) assesses key school-wide leadership practices that enhance teaching and learning for English Learners. The resulting action-based data can be used by school leaders to support school improvement planning and professional development planning. Watch a short demo video of the online reporting system to see how WIDA SIS can support you in your work.

ACCESS FOR ELLS ONLINE WRITING TEST (GRADES 4-12)

Students Placement for Handwriting Response

Students who will hand-write their writing response instead of using a keyboard are placed into a Handwriting Response (HW) test session in WIDA AMS. Before beginning any grades 4-12 Online ACCESS Writing test sessions, test administrators should verify on the test ticket that students are assigned to the test session in WIDA AMS that aligns with their response mode. Please refer to pages 108-109 in the WIDA AMS User Guide for specific instructions on moving students to an HW test session.

This year, the Online Grades 4-12 Writing Test has embedded field test items. The third writing task may be different for some students in this test. If a student has been assigned the incorrect test session in WIDA AMS, they may see a different field test item online than the handwriting booklet. Should this occur after the test session is already in progress and the student has begun responding to tasks, the student should still complete testing and the district should submit the Handwriting Response booklet for scoring as usual. The third task, or field test item, will not contribute to the student's overall score.

ALTERNATE ACCESS FOR ELLS REDESIGN – OPPORTUNITIES FOR INVOLVEMENT

WIDA will be revamping the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs over the next four years. Those interested in learning more about this work, providing feedback on the current Alternate ACCESS for ELLs design, or being notified of opportunities for involvement in development activities, should respond to this short survey.
