ACCESS FOR ELLs DISTRICT/BUILDING TEST COORDINATOR & ONLINE TEST COORDINATOR TRAINING

Audience: District Test Coordinators, Building EL Coordinators, Test Administrators/Coordinators, Principals & anyone interested

During the morning session, participants will learn: 

  • ordering and distributing materials, 
  • setting up testing schedules, 
  • monitoring test administrator certifications.

During the afternoon session, test administrators will explore how the WIDA Standards and Assessment System is connected to the ACCESS for ELLs Online. 

Participants will: 

  • Learn to administer the online test to students,
  • Access sample items and the WIDA Assessment Management System,
  • Identify the purpose of the WIDA Accessibility and Accommodations Framework,
  • Explain the technology basics for ACCESS for ELLs,
  • Describe the administrative functions of test coordination in WIDA AMS,
  • Explain scheduling, test administration monitoring and materials management,
  • Discuss the features of each of the different ACCESS for ELLs suite of assessments, 
  • Identify the different aspects of paper test administration such as domain test details,
  • Explain the procedure for scoring the speaking test.

(Participants may attend ½ day of training, but encouraged to attend the full day).

ACCESS FOR ELLS 2.0 WRITING FIELD TEST

WIDA is seeking Wyoming educators and students who are interested in participating in the ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 Writing field test. This is an excellent opportunity for students and administrators to practice for ACCESS for ELLs 2.0. 

This field test gives students and administrators practice and preparation for testing.

  • Testing time will be approximately 20-30 minutes and participating campuses will receive a small stipend for school supplies.
  • Students in grades 1-3 may test November 14, 2018 through February 15, 2019. (All students in grades 1-3 will hand write their responses)
  • The window for grades 4-12 is December 3, 2018 through March 1, 2019. (All students in grades 4-12 will keyboard their responses)

The field test may be administered before or after a student completes their operational testing.

ENGAGING ENGLISH LANGUAGE LEARNERS IN SCIENCE WORKSHOP

Audience: Educators, Curriculum Coordinators, Principals & anyone interested in participating.

This interactive two-day workshop offers educators time to delve into strategies to engage English Language Learners utilizing science practices. After developing a common understanding of language expectations, we will explore strategies and supports that foster a language-rich environment.

Through hands-on experimentation and analysis of language embedded within the content and practices of science, participants will have a deeper understanding of how to engage language learners of a variety of proficiency levels. The workshop will conclude with participants using a planning tool that will help them apply the process to their lessons.

Participants will be able to:

  • Create a common understanding of academic language and proficiency levels.

  • Apply targeted supports for a variety of proficiency levels

WY-TOPP SECURE BROWSER UPDATE

AIR is now able to support testing for MacOS version 10.14. All field users using MacOS version 10.13 and 10.14 should update their Secure Browser to the latest version of 10.6 for future testing. Users please uninstall the old version of the Secure Browser and install the newest version 10.6 by December 31, 2018. After this date, Secure Browser v10.5 will no longer be supported for MacOS. Please see the installation link on the Secure Browser page.

If you need any help with installation steps access the Secure Browser Installation Manual or call the wyohelpdesk@air.org for support.

Note the new browser will work on all versions of macOS that’s supported 10.9+.


TECHNOLOGY COORDINATOR RESOURCES FOR WY-TOPP AND WY-ALT

New technology quick guides have been created for the 18-19 online administration. These guides contain information for configurations, troubleshooting, and installation of the Secure Browser. Please see the new available resources below for your convenience:


WY-ALT MANDATORY TRAINING

The Spring 2019 WY-ALT Training Registration site is now open and will close Thursday, January 3, 2019. No additional requests for registration will be taken after registration closes. 

This year, all Spring 2019 Alternate Assessment Test Administrators (TA-ALTs) must attend an in-person WY-ALT training, even if you administered the WY-ALT in 2018.

Training Locations and Dates:

You must attend an in-person training to administer the test. Sign-in sheets from trainings will be used to ensure all attendees are granted the proper access to the Test Delivery System during the testing window.

In addition, all Spring 2019 TA-ALTs must take the online TA Certification Course, available via the Wyoming Assessment Portal. Completing the course will flag your TIDE account as “TA Certified.”
