CREATING AN EL PLAN WEBINAR

Tuesday, March 6th at 3:30 p.m.

Join Antoinette Hallam and Dani Olsen on Tuesday, March 6th at 3:30 p.m. for a webinar on "Creating an English Learner Plan." The webinar will focus briefly on related components in the updated 17-18 EL Guidebook and important ELL Laws and Regulations.

This webinar is the first in a series of webinars that will be held quarterly. The webinars are designed to strengthen understanding on the components that must be evident within the District EL Plan, Individual EL (IEL) Plan, and identifying and serving English Learner (EL) Students.

CALL FOR PARTICIPANTS - WY-ALT BLUEPRINTS

The WDE is seeking Special Education educators who are interested in serving on the WY-ALT Blueprint Committee for the new computer adaptive WY-ALT assessment. This committee will work on creating assessment blueprints for Math, ELA, and Science that align to the Wyoming extended standards. Extended standards are used with the students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Participants need to be able to commit to attending a two-day work session (face-to-face) that will occur April 4-5 in Cheyenne. Those interested in serving on this committee should complete this survey by 11:59 p.m. on March 11, 2018. Respondents will be notified of their selection status by March 16th.  Selected committee members will be given further information at this time, including payment, meeting location, and agenda.

ACT Test ADMINISTRATION Q&A WEBINAR

Wednesday, February 28th, 3:30-4:30

ACT will host one more Q&A webinar for Building Test Coordinators and District Test Coordinators. Topics that will be discussed during the webinar include:

  • Staff and facility requirements
  • Preparation activities, such as handling test materials and completing the examinee non-test information
  • Managing information in PearsonAccessnextTM
  • Test day policies and procedures
  • Returning test materials
  • Topics specific to your testing program

You must register 48 hours before the session start time.

ACCOMMODATIONS GUIDEBOOK UPDATE

The Wyoming Department of Education will convene a committee of Special Education teachers and directors to review and give input on the Accommodations Manual for state testing. This committee will help finalize a 2018 Accommodations Guidebook to be released before the WY-TOPP Summative test window and will convene again following that window to make any necessary adjustments and finalize the 2019 Accommodations Guidebook/Manual. The Accommodations Committee will meet next week to discuss student support needs and finalize the 2018 Accommodations Guidebook. 


QUALITY ASSURANCE CHECKLIST - TEST SECURITY

Please follow this link to the Quality Assurance Checklist. The Wyoming Department of Education will be using the Quality Assurance Checklist when conducting test site visits. The purpose of the visit will be to observe test security practices and answer any questions school staff may have about statewide assessment. Principals will be contacted in March to schedule test site visits for the spring WY-TOPP administration. Using Proficiency Scales with Exceptional Learners

March 26, 2018 - Ramkota Inn - Casper.

This session will address questions and challenges regarding how to use proficiency scales appropriately with students who have exceptional needs. Participants will receive information about providing appropriate accommodations and modifications for students that relate to language on proficiency scales. Additionally, they will learn how to use the adjusted scales to offer accurate information about achievement to students and parents.
