The Wyoming Geographic Alliance is making the Wyoming Student Atlas available for free.The atlas provides K-12 students and teachers with resources to aid learning about Wyoming geography while increasing students' spatial awareness and critical thinking skills. The 9x12-inch atlas contains 56 pages of maps, graphics and associated information.

July 9-10, 2018 University of Wyoming
Led by Professor Alex Murphy, the Wyoming Geographic Alliance will offer training for educators in Laramie next summer. Presentations will focus on ways in which core geographic concepts in the AP
Human Geography course outline—region, pattern, place, space and scale—provide insight
into fundamental developments unfolding around the world.
The course is free and a $50 travel stipend is available.
1.0 PTSB credit available.

July 9-10 Casper College
The Wyoming Geographic Alliance is offering a Geo-Inquiry Institute for middle-level educators in summer 2018.
Explore the Geo-Inquiry Process developed by
National Geographic to engage students in local and global issues. Limited to 30 participants. A team of two teachers from the same school is desired.

Nominations close April 1, 2018
Nominate a teacher for the Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST). This year's awards will honor mathematics and science (including computer science) teachers in grades K-6.
Minimum 5 years full-time employment in K-12 as math or science teacher is required.

The National Youth Science Camp is a free residential science education program for young STEM enthusiasts the summer after they graduate from high school. Students from around the country (two are selected to represent each state and Washington, D.C.) are challenged academically in lectures and hands-on studies, and have voluntary opportunities to participate in an outdoor adventure program, gain a new and deep appreciation for the great outdoors, and establish friendships that last a lifetime. The camp is open only to graduating seniors.

Applications are open for young people ages 14-20 from the U.S. to serve on the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens Youth Advisory Council. Members have the chance to network with experts in conservation and education while working alongside other young people from across the country.

The council meets several times a year, including in-person meetings.
|

Top prize: $5,300
The Boys and Girls Club of Central Wyoming's 2018 American Dream Essay Contest is open to all Wyoming students grades 9-12. Contestants must focus on the 10 Cowboy Ethics.
Teachers who facilitate the contest in their classrooms will receive monetary incentives paid directly to them.
