Home Energy Rebate Program, HOMES,
Launched August 1, 2024
- The Office of Energy Innovation, in partnership with Focus on Energy, launched the country's Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) first Home Efficiency Rebates program (HOMES) on August 1, 2024.
- Households may be eligible for rebates up to $10,000 on whole home energy efficiency improvements.
- Rebate amounts are based on a household's income level and predicted energy savings from recommended upgrades.
- This is one of two programs under the IRA Home Energy Rebates programs. The second program, Home Electrification and Appliance Rebates, will be launching soon. The HEAR rebates program offers rebates for low and moderate-income households for qualifying equipment.
- Rebate funds for this program are limited. If you're thinking about upgrading your house or multi-family building to save energy and money, contact Focus on Energy to apply.
Residential Rebate Finder
- Focus on Energy launched the Residential Rebate finder to help customers find the resources they need to get started on their energy saving projects.
- The Residential Rebate Finder includes the HER programs.

Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Program
Deadline Reminder
- The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Program announced $1.3 billion is available in funding.
- This program will fund electric vehicle (EV) charging and alternative-fueling infrastructure in urban and rural communities along designated highways, interstates, and major roadways.
- The program has two main topic areas:
- Community charging and Fueling grants
- Alternative fuel corridor grants
- Deadline to apply is Wednesday, August 28, 2024.

Clean Energy Infrastructure Funding Opportunity
- The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Weatherization Assistance Program (WAP) recently issued a $36 million Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) titled "WAP Enhancement & Innovation" with a maximum individual award amount of $2 million.
- The FOA seeks applications to expand the impact of DOE's existing residential weatherization programs by utilizing leveraged resources and enhanced community partnerships to perform deep energy retrofits of low-income residential buildings and empower local community representation within the energy workforce.
- The three main topic areas for awards include:
- Multifamily Housing
- Single Family and Manufactured Housing
- Workforce Development

Rural Energy for America Program
- The 2024 round of the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) is accepting applications until Monday, September 30, 2024.
- REAP provides guaranteed loan financing and grant funding to agricultural producers and rural small businesses for renewable energy systems or to make energy efficiency improvements.
- Proposed projects must be located in rural areas with populations of 50,000 residents or less. Visit the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) eligible rural areas to determine if your project location qualifies.

Energy to Educate Grant Program
- Constellation, a energy provider, has an "Energy to Educate" Grant program that offers students from sixth grade through college the opportunity to address the energy challenges of today and tomorrow. Grants support projects designed to enhance students' understanding of science and technology and inspire them to think differently about energy. The 2024 round of the program is open and is currently accepting applications.
- Proposed projects can be new or enhancements of an existing technology or program, and must reach at least 100 students and align with the 2024 Energy to Educate Grant Program themes including:
- Increasing Access in Energy
- Sustainability Amidst Growing Energy Needs
- Nuclear Technology and Clean Energy
- Grant awards are up to $25,000 for students in grades 6-12 and up to $50,000 for students attending colleges and universities. Applications are due Tuesday, October 1, 2024.

- Xcel Energy Efficiency Summit: Thursday, September 19, 2024, 7:30am-1:30pm CT at the Stoney Creek Hotel, Onalaska WI.
- These half-day events are tailored for Xcel Energy's C&I customers and trade allies, large, medium, and small businesses, energy managers, building operators, facilities managers, engineers, and architects. These will be led by local and national energy experts.
- The Northwoods Industrial Energy Efficiency Forum and the Xcel Energy Summit will explore commercial building electrification, solar electrical systems, HVAC controls strategies, state and federal incentives, rebates, tax credits, and more.
