Grid Resilience Grant Program
- On May 23, 2024, the Commission awarded $8.5 million in grants for the inaugural round of the Wisconsin Grid Resilience Grant Program.
- Funding was awarded to twelve electric cooperatives and four municipal electric utilities in support of nineteen projects that will:
- invest in the modernization and hardening of Wisconsin's electric grid to protect it from current and future threats to infrastructure
- reduce the frequency and duration of service interruptions in rural and disadvantaged communities
- increase the skilled workforce to support resilience-related activities

Green Innovation Fund
Request for Information
- The Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) recently announced the release of a Request for Information (RFI) and Project Information Template to develop an initial portfolio of fundable projects for the Green innovation Fund.
- WEDC has been invited to submit projects in an initial call for projects by the Coalition for Green Capital (CGC), a national green bank. Project submitted before July 2, 2024 will have the opportunity to compete for financing from the National Clean Investment Fund (NCIF), a subprogram of the U.S. EPA Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. Projects submitted after this date will be considered for future financing rounds as funding becomes available.

- Project proposals must be submitted by 4pm CT on July 2, 2024 to francisco.sayu@wedc.org.

Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement Competitive Grant Program
- The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development recently issued a modification to its Preservation and Reinvestment Initiative for Community Enhancement (PRICE) program. This modification incorporated $10 million in funding from the FY24 PRICE appropriation for a total of $235 million being available in the competitive grant program.
- This competitive grant program will be using the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) statutory and regulatory framework for a first-of-its-kind initiative. PRICE will support communities in their efforts to maintain, protect, and stabilize manufactured housing and manufactured housing communities (MHCs).
- Eligible activities include completing repairs, infrastructure improvements, upgrades to increase resilience, and other services for low-and moderate-income residents in these types of housing.
- Prior to submitting an application, applicants must publish their PRICE application for public comment. In addition, it is required that at least one public hearing/community meeting be held for the application and reasonable notice (at least 15 days) be provided to the public to submit comments.
- Due to this modification, the application deadline has been extended to 11:59pm ET on July 10, 2024. Applications must be submitted to Grants.gov.

Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program
- The Biden-Harris Administration recently opened applications for the second round of the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure Discretionary Grant Program. This round has $1.3 billion funding available and is for electric vehicle (EV) charging and alternative-fueling infrastructure in urban and rural communities along designated highways, interstates, and major roadways.
- This funding opportunity is being made possible by combining funds from the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) Discretionary Grant Program and the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula program.
- This funding opportunity will focus on two distinct categories:
- Community Charging and Fueling Grants
- Alternative Fuel Corridor Grants
- A key difference in this round of funding is the maximum distances from Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFC) has been increased from one to five miles to align with the maximum distance for other CFI-eligible fuels.
- Applications are due in Grants.gov by August 28, 2024.

Department of Energy Foundations of Energy Efficiency Financing Virtual Trainings
- The Department of Energy (DOE) working with the Berkley Lab recently announced a new six-part webinar series designed for public-sector energy professionals, sustainability and facility mangers, and finance officials seeking to deploy efficiency upgrades.
- The webinar series will kickoff on June 20 and will span six weeks with each training lasting about an hour. The webinar size is limited, so if interested, consider registering soon.

Energy Savings Performance Contracting Campaign Webinar
- The Energy Savings Performance Contracting (ESPC) Campaign engages public sector building owners including the municipal and state governments, universitates and colleges, schools, and hospitals (MUSH) market and others to expand and enhance the use of ESPC to achieve significant energy, environmental, and cost savings benefits.

Department of Energy Collegiate Wind Competition Winners
- The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) recently announced the winners of the 11th annual Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC). The CWC helps college students interested in wind and renewable energy workforce prepare for jobs through real-world experiences with wind energy technology, project development, finance, communications, and outreach.
- The University of Wisconsin-Madison was one of the winning teams for the 2024 round of CWC, winning under the Project Development section. The University of Wisconsin-Madison's WiscWind team's proposal was for a 525-megawatt floating wind farm on Lake Michigan that would then be connected to a battery storage system.
