ICYMI: Gov. Evers Encourages Wisconsinites to Use Fall Color Report to Gauge Peak Fall Color Travel

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today, together with the Wisconsin Department of Tourism, is highlighting Travel Wisconsin’s Fall Color Report as much of Southern Wisconsin reaches peak fall colors and the fall tourism season is underway. Earlier this year, Gov. Evers declared September 10-November 1, 2026, as the “Wisconsin Agricultural Tourism Fall Season,” during which time dedicated agricultural partners across the state help drive tourism and sales by offering families everything from corn mazes and pumpkin patches to apple picking, harvest festivals, and so much more. Wisconsin’s Fall Color Report has several filtering options to assist with planning trips for peak color.

“Fall is one of the best times of year to get outside and explore all Wisconsin has to offer, and it is a major economic driver for farmers, small businesses, and local communities all across our state,” said Gov. Evers. “Whether you're planning a visit to one of our beautiful state parks or a day at the pumpkin patch with the family, make sure to check out Travel Wisconsin's Fall Color Report to plan your next adventure.”

The Fall Color Report is an interactive, map-based resource that serves as a comprehensive trip-planning tool to allow Wisconsinites and visitors alike to take advantage of when the state’s trees and foliage are at their most vibrant throughout the state. The report tracks the status of forest and foliage leaf color as they transition from green to their peak fall colors. The report can also be sorted by the best currently reported colors for impromptu getaways. Users can filter the report by the estimated week of color peak to plan trips over the coming weeks.

For further outdoor adventures, the Fall Color Report directly links to the Wisconsin Trail Report, which helps travelers find hiking and biking trail networks to pair with peak fall colors. Users can also click a destination on the map for nearby recommendations for lodging, activities, events, dining, and other ideas for autumn itineraries. Residents can search TravelWisconsin.com for inspiration to add one more stop to fall travel itineraries that support farmers: pumpkin patches, apple orchards, corn mazes, and more agritourism adventures.

More than 100 volunteers report on fall color conditions in all 72 counties, providing regular updates throughout the fall season. Travel Wisconsin partners with tourism bureaus, parks and recreation departments, chambers of commerce, and other organizations to serve as fall color reporters. The reporters use on-the-ground observations to provide leaf seekers with comprehensive updates on the status of fall color. The report was viewed 1.4 million times last fall, making it one of Travel Wisconsin’s most visited webpages.
