Gov. Evers Orders Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of EMS Professionals Who Have Given Their Lives in the Line of Duty

MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers signed Executive Order #295 ordering the flags of the United States and the state of Wisconsin to be flown at half-staff on Sat., May 23, 2026, as a mark of respect for the emergency medical services (EMS) professionals who have given their lives in the line of duty. Gov. Evers proclaimed National EMS Week throughout the state of Wisconsin beginning Sun., May 17, and lasting through Sat., May 23, 2026

No matter the ZIP code or the emergency, Wisconsinites count on our EMS professionals to be there when we need them most, and the health and safety of our kids, families, and communities depend on their invaluable service,” said Gov. Evers. We know this work is difficult and dangerous, and during National EMS Week, we recognize all of those who make these daily sacrifices while honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice serving their fellow Wisconsinites and neighbors.”

Executive Order #295 will be in effect from sunrise to sunset on Sat., May 23, 2026, and is available on Gov. Evers’ website.
