Press Release: Registration Now Open for the 2024 Wisconsin Governor’s Cybersecurity Summit in Appleton

Appleton, Wis. - Registration is now open for the 2024 Wisconsin Governor’s Cybersecurity Summit, taking place October 28-30, 2024, at the Fox Cities Exhibition Center in Appleton, Wisconsin. This annual summit unites national cybersecurity experts and leaders from government, academia, and business to foster collaboration, share knowledge, and address pressing cybersecurity challenges.

“The Wisconsin Governor’s Cybersecurity Summit is an essential platform for collaboration, where we bring together leaders from across sectors to address today’s most critical cybersecurity challenges,” said Trina Zanow, Wisconsin’s Chief Information Officer. “As cyber threats continue to evolve, it’s more important than ever for Wisconsin’s organizations to strengthen their defenses and build resilience. This summit provides the insights, tools, and partnerships needed to stay ahead of emerging threats and protect our communities.”

“This summit provides a critical opportunity for us to meet as an interagency team, to include our industry partners, ensuring that we constantly improve our posture in the face of unrelenting challenges in cyber security,” said Brig. Gen. David May, Wisconsin’s interim Adjutant General and the Governor’s Chief Cybersecurity Advisor. “We must leave this event stronger and better equipped than we arrived to serve the people of Wisconsin, year after year.”

The Governor’s 2024 Cybersecurity Summit is coordinated by the Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) and the Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs (DMA). To register, visit the Governor's Cybersecurity Summit web page.

This year’s agenda will cover critical cybersecurity topics such as cybersecurity fundamentals, best practices, the importance of a zero-trust security model, and effective incident response preparation. Attendees can also explore the latest cybersecurity resources available at both state and federal levels.

Keynote speakers include Tal Kollender, a former teenage hacker turned CEO of Gytpol, who will provide her unique perspective on cybersecurity, and Tyler Cohen Wood, a prominent cyber-influencer and former U.S. Department of Defense official.

Building on the success of last year’s event, the first day of the summit, October 28, will focus on women in cybersecurity. This special session will feature presentations tailored to women currently working in cybersecurity or pursuing education and careers in the field. It will provide students and professionals alike with valuable insights, networking opportunities, and career development resources.
