Gov. Evers Calls Special Elections for the 4th Senate District and 8th Congressional District
 
MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today signed Executive Order #225, calling a special election for the 4th Senate District, and Executive Order #226, calling a special election for the 8th Congressional District.

The 4th Senate District seat is currently vacant due to the resignation of State Sen. Lena Taylor following her appointment to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court. The 8th Congressional District seat is currently vacant due to the resignation of U.S. Rep. Mike Gallagher.

In Executive Order #225, Gov. Evers ordered the special election for the 4th Senate District to be held on July 30, 2024. If a primary is necessary, it will be held on July 2, 2024. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, May 14, 2024, and must be filed by 5 p.m. on June 4, 2024.

In Executive Order #226, Gov. Evers ordered the special election for the 8th Congressional District to be held on Nov. 5, 2024, coinciding with the 2024 general election. If a primary is necessary, it will be held on Aug. 13, 2024, coinciding with the 2024 partisan primary. Circulation of nomination papers for candidates may begin today, May 14, 2024, and must be filed by 5 p.m. on June 1, 2024.
