Evers Administration Highlights More than $7.6 Million for Town of Beloit Fire Station Reconstruction

Beloit, Wis. – Today, Wisconsin Department of Administration (DOA) Secretary-designee Kathy Blumenfeld, alongside Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS) Secretary-designee Dan Hereth, presented a $7,675,000 award to the Town of Beloit. The funds represent a portion of the more than $230 million Governor Evers committed to the Neighborhood Investment Fund (NIF) to help communities deliver vital public services. Overall, Rock County has received an investment of more than $145 million to support pandemic relief and recovery efforts.

The Town of Beloit award will fund the reconstruction of an aging fire station to meet public safety needs and accommodate full-time personnel at both fire stations serving the community. Today’s event comes on the heels of an announcement of a $32 million investment from Governor Evers to support EMS providers in nearly every county across the state.

“Building for the future to ensure our communities are strong and resilient was the focus of Neighborhood Investment Fund program,” Secretary-designee Blumenfeld said. “We’re proud to be able to celebrate the positive impact and long-term benefits for public safety for both the Town and City of Beloit, thanks to this investment from Governor Evers.”

“Whether it’s a structure fire, Covid or building safety, Wisconsin’s Fire and EMS are at the front lines of safety in our villages, towns and cities,” Secretary-designee Hereth said. “I am excited we can continue supporting their efforts to keep Wisconsin safe.”

“The replacement of Fire Station #2 will enhance Fire and EMS services for Town of Beloit citizens and the greater Beloit area,” said Town of Beloit Town Administrator Tim Wellnitz.

Grants awarded range in size from $1 million to a maximum of $15 million and are funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.
