Call for Abstracts
Submissions Due April 10, 2026
GLITEC invites abstract submissions for the Great Lakes Tribal Public Health Conference: Bridging Wellness Across the Great Lakes Region. This conference will be held August 11 and 12, 2026, in Oneida, Wisconsin.
This conference aims to unite Tribes and Tribal partners in improving community health across the Great Lakes region and nationwide.

Submission Topics
Proposals should align with at least one of the four core tracks that reflect emerging innovations and priorities for health and wellness in the region:

Behavioral Health: This track explores the intersection between substance use, overdose, mental health, and suicide prevention to identify protective factors and enhance paths that support prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies.

Data Infrastructure: This track explores tools and technologies, such as AI, and other innovative approaches grounded in Tribal data sovereignty to improve data infrastructure.

Indigenous Wellness: This track explores approaches, strategies, and programs that address health and wellness holistically through traditional practices, cultural values, and community support.

Public Health Capacity: This track explores initiatives, programs, and strategies that advance systems, services, and workforce to strengthen healthy communities and respond to emerging health concerns.
Presentation Format
Oral presentations will take place on Tuesday, August 11, and Wednesday, August 12, as concurrent breakout sessions. Sessions will be 75 minutes (60-minute presentation with 15-minute Q&A session).
Proposal Requirements
Proposals should meet the following requirements:
- Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words.
- All proposals must be free of commercial intent.
- Abstracts should be submitted as a PDF or Word document.

Submission Deadline
Submissions are due April 10, 2026, by 4:30 pm CDT/5:30 pm EDT.
GLITEC will notify selected oral and poster presenters via email by April 17, 2026.
 Review Criteria
Abstracts will be reviewed on a competitive basis by the conference planning team. Abstracts will be weighed based upon relevance to the above track areas and overall conference theme. Please ensure that abstracts meet all the above criteria and fit into one or more of the topic areas listed above.
Please note that while no fees are required to submit an abstract, if your abstract is accepted, the presenting author(s) must register for and attend the conference.
