Hello DVR Service Providers,
This communication is to provide you with information related to DVR’s Internship and Temporary Work (I/TW) service.
DVR will be intentional in the use and duration of the I/TW service to meet consumer needs. DVR's I/TW service should not be offered by a Service Provider to an employer without prior approval from DVR. Using this service so that an employer can “try out” a consumer before making an offer for hire, to get a consumer's "foot in the door,” or using because we are not sure what to do as the next step with a consumer are not the intentions of this service.
When an I/TW is deemed an appropriate service for a consumer, DVR will authorize for the service and should include the purpose of the I/TW in the notes section of the PO. Possible purposes of an I/TW are listed in the I/TW Technical Specifications.
The timeframe for the I/TW should be no longer than necessary to meet the purpose of the service. We have seen automatic approvals of 90 days which is not the intent of this service. An I/TW can be anywhere between 10 and 90 days. If an I/TW is deemed necessary, the timeframe of this service must meet the consumer need. Any I/TW recommendation for longer than 45 days will now require review from local DVR management.
With prior DVR approval, some other service options could be appropriate to meet consumer needs such as On the Job Assessment or On the Job Training .
If you have questions, please reach out to local WDA management staff or DVR's Bureau of Management Service Section Chief, Karla Opatz at karla.opatz@dwd.wisconsin.gov.
Thank you,
Deanna Krell
DVR Bureau of Management Services Director
