New Step-by-Step Instructions Now Available
We're pleased to share that Opportunities, Inc. (Opp, Inc.) has released a new, updated set of step-by-step instructions to support the onboarding of DVR consumers for Internship/Temporary Work (ITW) experiences. These new resources were developed in response to feedback from both Service Providers and consumers/guardians and are designed to clarify, simplify, and streamline the use of Opp Inc's new system.
What's New?
The instructions are now split out and organized into 4 user-friendly steps, each tailored to the stage the consumer is in:
-
Register! - Register with Opportunities, Inc. for your Internship/Temporary work experience through DVR
-
Onboard! - Welcome to your DVR Work Experience - Steps to Complete before your First Day!
-
Login! - Your Employee Portal
-
Returning ITW! - (For consumers who've completed an ITW since April 21, 2025 and are returning)
There is also still a separate instruction guide specifically for Time Approvers (you, the Service Providers) to support your role in tracking and verifying hours.
Each step includes practical tips, in an effort to address some of the FAQs, based on common issues we've seen across the state. These step-by-step instructions have been tested by both Service Providers and consumers/guardians, and updated throughout those tests to reflect real-world use and suggestions.
➡️ Opp Inc. has also recorded new video tutorials to accompany each step, which are available on the DVR ITW Resource page also.
To make this easier to access, we have also restructured the DVR ITW Resource page, so you can easily identify which instructions to use based on the individual situation.

Key Reminders for Service Providers
We're also asking for your help in avoiding common issues that have caused delays and payment errors:
Time Entry Accuracy - AM/PM Errors
- Please double-check all time entries before submission, especially AM vs. PM. The system includes a column that totals the hours entered on each line; please use this to catch entry mistakes.
- We've seen numerous instances where AM/PM errors result in inaccurate hour totals. For example: A shift entered as 8:00PM to 9:00AM will incorrectly total as 13 hours, when the intended time was likely 8:00AM to 9:00AM (1 hour).
- These types of errors lead to overpayments to consumers. When that happens, Service Providers are often asked to assist with contacting the consumer/guardian and recovering the overpaid funds - a frustrating and time-consuming process for everyone involved.
- Please help prevent these issues by carefully reviewing time entries and using the total hours column as a quick check before submitting.
Time Approval Deadlines - No Later than Tuesday at 12:00PM (Noon)
- Time must be approved by Tuesday at 12:00PM (Noon) to be included in that week's payroll.
- This deadline is already an extension from the previous Monday 5:00PM deadline to allow for additional flexibility, but it is critical that Service Providers meet this deadline so that:
- Opp Inc. can process payroll for all participants on time
- Opp Inc. staff have adequate time to review and correct any issues (e.g., incorrect or excessive hours)
- There have been ongoing issues with time being approved late - Wednesday evening, Thursday morning, or even into Friday - which creates payroll delays and extra manual work.
- When hours are approved late:
- That time needs to be manually keyed by Opp Inc. staff
- The payroll is often pushed to the following week, resulting in delayed payment to the consumer
- Please ensure time approval is part of your regular workflow and completed by Tuesday, 12:00PM (Noon) to avoid these issues.
We appreciate your continued partnership and your role in supporting successful work experiences for DVR consumers. The new instructions and updates are intended to make this process smoother for everyone involved.
If you have questions or suggestions in the meantime, please don't hesitate to reach out.
