The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Office of Skills Development today announced the new Commercial Driver Training grant program aimed at increasing the number of people holding a Commercial Driver License (CDL) in Wisconsin. Through the program, training providers can receive from $10,000 to $30,000.
Commercial driver license training providers must satisfy the following requirements to receive grant funding:
- Applicant must be listed on the federal Training Provider Registry.
- The training entity must have a facility in Wisconsin and trainees must be Wisconsin residents.
- Training must meet federal Entry-Level Driver Training (ELDT) requirements. and must be provided at or through the Wisconsin facility.
- Training must satisfy the requirements of 49 CFR part 380, subparts F and G.
The legislative authority for this grant is found at Wis. Stat. ยง 106.276.
