Ladder accidents are a leading cause of injuries and deaths in the workplace. Each year, thousands of people are hospitalized due to falls, and many tragically lose their lives. This is especially concerning considering most ladder deaths involve falls of only 10 feet or less.
Ladder safety violations consistently rank among OSHA's top violations. To help prevent these accidents, the American Ladder Institute (ALI) offers a month-long campaign with weekly themes to raise awareness and provide resources:
-
Week 1: Training and Awareness: Understand the risks and importance of safe ladder use.
-
Week 2: Inspection and Maintenance: Ensure your ladder is in good condition before each use.
-
Week 3: Stabilization, Setup and Accessories: Learn proper setup techniques and utilize the right accessories for your task.
-
Week 4: Safe Climbing and Positioning: Maintain proper posture and avoid overreaching while using a ladder.
Free Resources Available:
By using these resources and practicing safe ladder use, we can all help prevent accidents and keep everyone safe on the job.
