Industry Sectors Worker Training Grants:
Tomahawk Live Trap
Tomahawk Live Trap received a Standard Wisconsin Fast Forward Industry Sectors Worker Training Grant in 2021 for $20,000. By working with the Manufacturer Outreach Center at the University of Wisconsin-Stout, the company implemented a training program focused on introducing Lean manufacturing principles to all company employees.
Training for 35 incumbent workers made it possible for the business to operate more efficiently. Most trainees received industry recognized credentials, a pay increase, and gained new skills after completing training.
Industry Sectors Worker Training Grants are open to all industry sectors and companies of any size. Grants range from $5,000 to $400,000. One grantee can serve as an applicant for a consortium of employment partners and apply for more than $400,000.
Technical Education Equipment Grants:
Cornell School District
The Cornell School District received an Expanded Wisconsin Fast Forward Technical Education Equipment Grant in 2021 for $50,000. The grant allowed the school district to expand offerings in its Educational Technology department.
The school district purchased a High Aspect Ratio Parts (HARP) CNC Machine, which included four control modules to provide four independent work stations to students. During the two-year project period, about 140 students used the equipment purchased through the grant. This resulted in an increased number of students planning to attend local technical colleges and pursue careers in various trade fields.
Technical Education Equipment grants are open to Wisconsin school districts. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $50,000 and require a 200% cash or in-kind match. These grants reimburse districts for the cost to purchase and install technical education equipment. This equipment is used for vocational training and technical education in advanced manufacturing fields. It covers costs of equipment operation software and instructional materials to train students.
