2015 Wisconsin Act 211
The 2015
Wisconsin Act 211 outlined that the Department was granted the authority to
create an electronic one− and 2−family dwelling permit system in which
municipalities submit permits for new dwellings to the Department effective
January 2, 2018. The Department created the electronic permit system with three
different ways for municipalities to submit new one− and 2−family dwelling
permits. The first is the online premium option, the second is using a
Microsoft Excel uploader file system and the third is using a 3rd party
software via an API uploading function.
As of the first week of April,
2018, the Department has received over 1,700 new one− and 2−family dwelling
permits from municipalites using one of the three options.
As
a friendly reminder, as outlined within the Act, not later than the 15th day of
the first month beginning after issuance of each building permit, the
municipality must electronically file a copy of each permit issued with the
department. If a municipality fails to file with the department an electronic
copy of an issued permit not later than the last day of the first month
beginning after the issuance of the permit, the municipality will be in
non-compliance and shall refund to the person to whom the building permit was
issued the fees as outlined within the Act.
