Continuing Medical Education Requirement
On November 10, 2016,
emergency rules went into effect that revise Wisconsin Administrative Code
Chapter Med 13 to provide that two of the required 30 hours of CME for the
current biennium (1/1/2016 - 12/31/2017) and the following biennium (1/1/2018 - 12/31/2019) must be related to the opioid
prescribing guideline issued by the Board.
According
to the rule, physicians who do not hold a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration
number to prescribe controlled substances are exempt from the requirement.
