State Performance Plan (SPP) and Annual Performance Report for 2024-2025 is now Published
The U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) has determined that Wisconsin meets requirements. The State Performance Plan (SPP) Annual Performance Report (APR): Part B for FFY 2024 is now available on the DPI website. Annual Performance Reports. The report includes the Final Determination Letter from the US Department of Education and the OSEP Data Matrix.
2024-2025 Special Education Data Now Available in WISEdash Public Portal
School districts and the public can now view Annual Performance Report Indicators in the WISEdash Public Portal for the 2024-2025 school year. Data is available for Indicators 1 through 14. In addition, data for cyclical indicators (Indicators 8, 11, 14) are only shown for the school districts that were in the most recent data collect cycle for 2024-25. The bar charts in the Public Portal dashboard show state rates and target rates for all indicators. Local school district and independent charter school data can be found by filtering the data by school district.
The Special Education Indicators Overview menu shows a tabular listing of school district rates, state rates, and target rates, including target descriptions and details of each indicator. The Special Education Indicators Trends menu reveals plotlines for each indicator and charts data from 2020-2021 through 2024-2025. A special Assessment Trends menu shows all the Indicator 3 Assessment results for both English Language Arts and Mathematics for Grades 4, 8, and 11.

- Next, click on “Special Ed Indicators” link under "Student Engagement".
- Then, choose “Special Ed Indicators Overview, Trends or Assessments” using the drop-down menu.
- You can then filter by School District using the “Filter Data” button.
2026-27 Mental Health Literacy Champions Cohort
Project AWARE is excited to announce the launch of our second Mental Health Literacy (MHL) Champions Cohort this Fall 2026, organized and facilitated by the DPI Project AWARE state team and Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS). This initiative is open to all Wisconsin school and district staff who are passionate about using MHL as a tool for building healthier school communities.
This MHL Champions Cohort aims to empower Wisconsin educators by providing opportunities to collaborate with colleagues from across the state and gain insights from regional, state, and national experts. Participants will deepen their knowledge and skills in the four components of mental health literacy, practice advocacy, utilize improvement tools, and develop actionable plans.
We are pleased to offer two participation pathways for this cohort to accommodate different organizational needs:

Pathway A (Learning Series Only): Participate in Part 1 (August - December 2026) to acquire foundational knowledge and understand core MHL concepts.

Pathway B (Full Cohort & Implementation): Commit to the full year (August 2026 - May 2027), including Part 2 (January 2027 - May 2027), to actively design and launch mental health literacy initiatives within your agency.

Exciting New Changes to the Indicator 7 (Preschool Outcomes) Application!
Updates to the Indicator 7 application include:
- Special Education Directors (and others with Director or Designee role permissions) now have the ability to delete Indicator 7 records for their district. Only incomplete or open records, which do NOT have Exit outcomes and are Locked, can be deleted. These records will have a red “Delete” button next to the blue “Edit” button.
- A new column labeled “R4K?” makes it easier to mark 5K eligible students who are returning to 4K for the next school year. To mark these students, just click on the “Set R4K” button next to the “Entry Outcome” column. If a student is marked in error, click on the orange “Yes” button again to unmark the student.
- This designation will help school district and Early Learning Technical Assistance and Implementation (EL-TAI) personnel remember which 5K eligible students will NOT be exiting in the current school year.
- When the student is ready to be exited, the exit date and exit summary can be entered without having to unmark the “R4K - Yes” designation
- However, if the child was exited prematurely and the record is already locked, then please reach out to DPI to unlock the exit record. Once the exit record is unlocked, you will see the “Set R4K” button appear for that record. When the child is ready to be exited, the exit date can be edited to the correct date by clicking on the blue “Edit” button.
