Timely Information
Indicator 12 Preschool Transition Reminders
Please make sure you close your records for all children in the Preschool Transitions application who have transitioned from the Birth to 3 Program and have turned age 3. The snapshot to collect this information for federal and LEA Determinations reporting will be December 9. All children who have turned 3 by this date should be completed and closed in the application. Also remember to make sure you are acknowledging referrals as the evaluation timeline begins upon the initial referral from the Birth to 3 Program. For more information see the DPI Indicator 12 webpage.
Transition from 4K to 5K Survey
Early Learning – Technical Assistance and Implementation (EL-TAI) is developing guidance on best practices for supporting children and families through the transition process into kindergarten. Please share how your agency or district supports successful transitions into 5K by completing this short transition survey. The survey will close on November 15, 2025. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.
New Resources
Related Services in the IEP
DPI developed a new resource outlining what related services are, tips for IEP teams on how to make related services decisions, examples of who and where related services can be provided, and an appendix that includes definitions of common related services, how each service supports students with disabilities, license requirements, and additional resources for each related service. The resource is posted on the DPI Special Education Related Services webpage. The resource should be used to compliment Bulletin 10.07: Describing Special Education, Related Services, Supplementary Aids and Services, and Program Modifications and Supports that provides additional information on documenting special education services in the IEP. Click to view the Related Services in the IEP resource.

Supports for Students with IEPs
To support the education of students with IEPs and help close gaps for every student, the Department of Public Instruction uses federal funding to develop a variety of projects, tools, and resources. These programs, tools, and resources are available at low or no cost for districts and are designed to meet the unique needs of the state’s youngest learners through their transition to adulthood. See the resources available to schools on the DPI Supports for Educating Students with IEPs webpage.
Division of Early Childhood (DEC) Inventory of Resources
The Division of Early Childhood has created a wonderful resource document for all publications and products organized by topics. Make sure to check out the DEC Publications and Products Inventory document.
Assistive Technology (AT) Resources
The DPI AT Forward Project has a number of free resources for those looking to expand their knowledge and increase student autonomy in utilizing AT to support access, engagement, and progress in learning.
