The DPI is committed to supporting agencies participating in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) during the federal government shutdown. 

• The DPI currently has funding available to pay October 2025 meals claimed for reimbursement. We anticipate receiving additional federal funds as they are released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. 
• The DPI has been notified that FoodShare (SNAP) payments may be delayed in November if the federal shutdown continues. However, children whose Household Size Income Statement (HSIS) was determined as free based on FoodShare participation may remain eligible as free until the HSIS expires. Upon expiration, a new HSIS must be obtained for free and reduced eligibility determinations based on the household's current participation in benefits programs or household size and income.
• Federal employees affected by furloughs may submit a Household Size Income Statement (HSIS) based on their current household income, which may temporarily be zero. All complete HSIS must be accepted at face value and processed according to normal program rules. 

The DPI will continue to administer the CACFP and will provide updates on the status of the federal government shutdown as new information becomes available.

REMINDER: Claim Submission Deadlines: Federal regulations impose a claim submission deadline of 60 calendar days after the last day of the month for which the claim applies. For DPI’s CACFP Claim Submission Deadlines visit Claim Submission Deadlines.

The abbreviation key identifies each type of program in the CACFP. Each section above identifies who the information applies to when implementing the CACFP. If your type of program is not listed in a section, it does not apply.
