Back to school means that new and experienced math teachers alike are preparing for and enacting important mathematical experiences for their students. How exciting!
Here are two ways you can support Wisconsin’s early-career math teachers:
-
Make sure early-career teachers are aware of DPI’s Math Ed Matters monthly newsletters and email communications to connect to our Wisconsin mathematics community. This includes math teachers at all grade bands: elementary, middle school, and high school! Share this link with others so that they can self-subscribe.
- Share the following information about WI Math CNECT, a special interest group of the Wisconsin Mathematics Council (WMC), in an email to early-career math teachers you may know.

Happy beginning of the school year!
We know you’re probably feeling all of the feelings- excited, nervous, overwhelmed, eager, hopeful…We get it! Every teacher, early-career or veteran, typically has a range of emotions at the start of a school year. As part of your support system this year, WI Math CNECT will be sending a monthly newsletter that will be both concise and helpful as you navigate through the year. All you have to do is fill in the Google Sign-up Form at https://wiamte.org/wi-math-cnect/.
Newsletters will include a quick tip, a link to a wonderful resource, and a reminder about taking care of yourself.
WI Math CNECT (Community for New and Early Career Teachers) is designed to address questions and challenges of beginning K-12 mathematics teachers. Our mission is to support you as you navigate your first years of teaching. We are a special interest group of the Wisconsin Mathematics Council (WMC).
Please reach out with any questions, concerns, or topics you would like addressed in upcoming newsletters. #togetherisbetter!
